Product Description

  • See Terms and Conditions box on the product page, you agree to have able-bodied people and some way to move your shipment from the curb to your home at the time of delivery. This service is not included unless prior arrangements are made. Many products can be carried piece by piece from the curb after opening the shipment for the visual inspection that is required at the time of the delivery. It is extremely important that you inspect the crate, carton, and contents of your shipment for damage before you sign for your shipment.

Our craftsmen painstakingly created an exact mold of each piece in the mantel, capturing all the details including hairline fractures and minor aging. From these molds we are able to use a proprietary combination of skilled casting and hand crafting techniques to create a reproduction that once installed is challenging to differentiate from the antique original.

The Canova #375 Italian Marble Mantel - Aurora and Apollo

From our Heritage Mantels Collection, The Canova is a luxurious Italian Antique Marble Mantel, circa 1790, with Neoclassical styling. The carved Frieze shows goddess of dawn Aurora leading sun god Apollo in his chariot (based on Guido Reni's pavilion central hall ceiling fresco, "L'Aurora," in the Palazzo Pallavicini-Rospigliosi in Rome, circa 1614.) The stanchions are in the form of Italian sculptor Antonio Canova's (1757-1822) Dancing Girls, and this mantle has significant US history with three versions appearing in the White House (the Vermeil Room, the China Room and the Yellow Oval Room.) Spectacular details and museum quality condition.

*NOTE! The opening height of the Canova can be altered at our factory for a modest price adjustment, by changing the leg length. To increase the height, we add an additional, aesthetically proportional leg section.
